Services ยท LED and smart upgrades
Halogen to LED, and a system that runs itself.
Already have landscape lighting? We convert halogen systems to warm 3000K LED, fix whatโs failing, and add astronomic timing, zoned scenes and app control, on systems we installed and systems we didnโt.
Why upgrade
Your old lights, new tricks.
Halogen lamps run hot, use several times the power of an LED that gives the same light, and burn out often enough that many halogen systems end up partly dark. Many were also put on a basic timer that drifts out of step with sunset every season.
An upgrade fixes all three. LED lamps draw a fraction of the power and last far longer. The lower load often frees up capacity on the existing transformer, which is usually where an expansion comes from. And modern control means the system comes on at dusk in June and December without anyone touching it.
What we wonโt do is put new lamps in failing fixtures. If a housing is pitted aluminum or letting water in, weโll tell you, and replace it with solid brass.
What we upgrade
Five upgrades, one visit to find out.
Halogen to LED.
LED lamps at 3000K fitted to sound brass or copper fixtures, every fixture matched so the property reads as one design.
Warm, consistent, efficient ii.Smart control.
Astronomic timing that follows sunset all year, zoned scenes for the way you use the property, and app control where it earns its place.
Astronomic ยท Scenes ยท App iii.Fixture replacement.
Pitted aluminum and water-damaged housings replaced with solid brass and copper, carrying a lifetime fixture warranty.
Brass ยท Lifetime warranty iv.Connections and power.
Twist caps in soil replaced with gel-filled direct-burial connectors, and transformers checked and resized where theyโre loaded past their rating.
Where systems actually fail v.Expansion.
New fixtures for the parts of the property the original installer never reached, designed to match whatโs already there.

i.
The $195 inspection.
Every fixture, zone, transformer and connection documented in writing, whoever installed it and whatever brand is in the ground.
-
ii.
A written upgrade plan.
What to keep, what to convert to LED, what to replace, and what control is possible on your wiring, itemized so you can do all of it or phase it.
-
iii.
The upgrade.
Lamps converted, failing fixtures replaced with brass, connections redone where needed, and the controls set up.
-
iv.
Re-aimed after dark.
Every fixture re-aimed on an evening visit, with scenes set up with you there. Then the system can go on a maintenance plan, or not; thatโs your call.

Upgrade questions
Answered plainly.
Can you convert my halogen landscape lighting to LED?
Usually, yes. Where the fixtures are solid brass or copper and in good condition, we fit LED lamps into the existing fixtures. Where housings are pitted aluminum or letting water in, we replace those fixtures with brass. The $195 inspection tells you which applies to each fixture before you commit to anything.
Will LED look different from my halogen lights?
Not if it is done properly. We fit warm 3000K LED, which reads close to the warm look of halogen, and set every fixture to the same colour temperature so the property looks consistent. Each fixture is re-aimed on an evening visit after the swap.
Can you add app or smart control to an older system?
Often, depending on how the system was zoned and what transformers are in the ground. Astronomic timing, so the lights follow sunset all year, is possible on almost any system; zoned scenes and app control depend on the wiring. The inspection documents what is possible before you commit to anything.
Do I have to replace the whole system?
No. Roughly half the systems we inspect keep at least their transformer and trunk wire. Upgrades can be phased, starting with the fixtures that matter most, and the written report shows what to keep, repair or replace.
Do you upgrade systems someone else installed?
Yes. It starts with the $195 flat inspection, which documents every fixture, zone, transformer and connection in writing, whatever brand is in the ground.
