Landscape lighting in Aurora. Under the canopy.

Beacon Hall, Aurora Highlands and the older streets of Aurora Heights sit under heavy, mature tree cover. Most good designs here start in the branches, not at the foundation.

The local condition

Mature trees, and the moonlight they make.

Aurora sits at the edge of the Oak Ridges Moraine, and its established neighbourhoods are defined by tall, mature trees. That canopy is the single best lighting asset a property can have.

Moonlighting does the heavy lifting. Fixtures mounted high in the branches cast soft, dappled shadow across a lawn or drive, which no ground fixture can imitate. Specimen trees are then uplit from two sides so the trunk and structure read in three dimensions.

Under that canopy, roots are everywhere. We hand-dig inside drip lines and route wire around root flare, so the trees you are lighting aren’t harmed by the install.

Working in Aurora

What changes under Aurora’s trees.

  • i.

    Start in the branches.

Moonlighting from high in the canopy gives a whole lawn soft, natural light, with far fewer fixtures than lighting it from the ground.

    Moonlighting first
  • ii.

    Protect the roots you’re lighting.

Trenching inside drip lines is hand-dug, and wire is routed around root flare rather than through it.

    Plan for growth.

Canopy grows into beams. Fixtures are placed with a few seasons of growth in mind, and a maintenance visit re-aims what moved.

    Re-aimed as it grows
  • iv.

    Keep it warm and low.

At 3000K and low output, tree light reads like moonlight rather than a sports field, and it stays out of the night sky.

No. Aurora is one of our outer service areas and is priced exactly like our five core cities: the same published tiers, the same free 45-minute evening demo, and the same written, itemized proposal.

What is moonlighting?

Fixtures mounted high in a mature tree and aimed down through the branches, so the light falls on the lawn or drive below as soft, moving shadow. It is the most natural-looking effect in landscape lighting, and Aurora’s canopy is ideal for it.
