Landscape lighting ยท Markham
Landscape lighting in Markham. Heritage streets and estate pockets.
Unionville and Markham Village have well-preserved heritage streets. Angus Glen and Cachet have estate homes on generous lots. One city, two very different design problems.
The local condition
Two kinds of Markham, designed differently.
In Unionville and Markham Village, older homes sit close to the street on mature, tree-lined lots. The goal is light that flatters the architecture without announcing itself: warm, low and hidden.
In the estate communities, scale takes over. Angus Glen and Cachet have large homes, deep setbacks and landscaped grounds, where layered zones, scene control and a lit approach make the difference.
Either way, the standard is the same: solid brass, 3000K, shielded and aimed, and a separate evening visit to aim every fixture with you there.

Four Markham neighbourhoods, four briefs.
Unionville.
Heritage homes and mature trees near Main Street. Reversible mounting, hardware out of sightlines, and light kept soft.
Heritage-sensitive ii.Markham Village.
Older homes in the historic core along Main Street North. Facade grazing and a lit approach, at low output.
Historic core iii.Angus Glen.
Estate homes around the golf course with deep lots and big rear views. The back of the property is designed as carefully as the front.
Estate scale iv.Cachet.
Large custom homes with landscaped grounds and long frontages. Layered zones and scene control earn their place.

What changes in Markham.
-
i.
Keep heritage streets heritage.
Fixtures that touch an older building go into mortar joints and can be removed later. Most of the light comes from the ground, hidden in planting.
-
ii.
Check the view from the sidewalk.
On older streets the house is close to the road, so sightlines are checked from the street as well as the house.
-
iii.
Layer the estates.
Large properties are zoned by how theyโre used โ arrival, garden, patio, pool โ with three or four scenes set after dark with you.
-
iv.
Built for Ontario winters.
Solid brass and copper fixtures and gel-filled direct-burial connectors, because aluminum pits and twist caps fail in wet soil.

Markham questions
Answered plainly.
How much does landscape lighting cost in Markham?
The same tiers we publish for every city, with no extra charge for coming to Markham. A focused front-of-house design with 10 to 20 brass fixtures runs $3,000 to $5,500. A fully designed property with 20 to 35 fixtures runs $5,500 to $11,000, where most homes land. Estate properties with pools, layered zones and app-controlled scenes run $11,000 to $21,000, and larger grounds with custom controls start around $28,000. Every range includes fixtures, wire, transformers, trenching, commissioning and warranty.
Do you charge extra to come to Markham?
No. Markham is one of our outer service areas and is priced exactly like our five core cities: the same published tiers, the same free 45-minute evening demo, and the same written, itemized proposal.
Can you light a heritage home in Unionville?
Yes. Fixtures that have to touch the building go into mortar joints rather than the face of the brick or stone, hardware is kept out of the view from the sidewalk, and everything is mounted so it can be removed later, with the joint patched.
